Chen Songxi, Chief Scientist of the Statistics Discipline at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. He noted that this symposium originated from practical needs in statistics for data element circulation. Currently, there exists a disconnect between data element statistics and academic research. As a new type of production factor, data measurement is closely related to statistics on traditional factors such as human capital, land, and capital—urgently requiring deep academic engagement. He stated that the symposium focuses on three major themes: data elements, intelligent statistics, and the silver economy, consolidating wisdom from academia, industry, and government departments. Through subsequent specialized research and成果转化, it will provide solid intellectual support for national statistical modernization reforms and related decision-making deployments.

Fang Yuming, Party Committee Standing Member and Vice President of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the university, he extended welcome and gratitude to all attending guests, noting that with the accelerated evolution of the digital economy, data elements as key production factors pose entirely new challenges to traditional statistics in terms of their value mechanisms, circulation methods, and statistical accounting. He introduced that the university is currently using statistics as a foundation to drive the digital transformation of traditional finance and economics disciplines, establishing directions in new economic statistics and data element statistics, and advancing statistics toward real-time perception, intelligent analysis, and decision support. He expressed his hope that this symposium would serve as a platform to consolidate multi-stakeholder consensus, deepen cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to statistical modernization reforms and macroeconomic governance.

Luo Shihua, Party Committee Standing Member and Vice President of Gannan Normal University, introduced in his remarks that Gannan Normal University has been rooted in the red soil for 68 years, achieving remarkable results in talent cultivation and scientific research. He noted that the university attaches great importance to the development of the digital economy and statistics disciplines, having established the Data Intelligence Technology Joint R&D Center relying on the School of Economics and Law, launched the Big Data Management and Application program, and promoted the interdisciplinary integration of statistics with data science and information technology—focusing on cultivating compound statistical talents. He stated that as a co-organizer, the university will make every effort to ensure service and support, and expressed his hope that this symposium would serve as a bond to promote collaborative innovation among industry, academia, research, and application, contributing to the upgrading of statistics disciplines, the unleashing of data element value, and the high-quality development of the digital economy.
