From August 2 to 7, 2025, JSM 2025 (The Joint Statistical Meetings) was grandly held at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. During the event, Tsinghua University’s Department of Statistics and Data Science successfully hosted an academic exhibition booth and development exchange session, serving as a vital platform to showcase Tsinghua’s statistical discipline at this international academic gathering and injecting new energy into overseas recruitment and global academic collaboration.

On the evening of August 4 (local time), the Department’s Development Exchange Session convened as scheduled. Nearly 200 statisticians, alumni representatives from universities, research institutions, and enterprises worldwide gathered to discuss cutting-edge trends and opportunities in statistics and data science. Professor Jun Liu, Preparatory Committee Director of the Department and Academician of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, delivered an opening address, warmly welcoming guests and alumni, expressing gratitude for longstanding support, highlighting talent recruitment resources, and inviting outstanding overseas scholars to join Tsinghua. During the interactive session, attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on disciplinary development, research collaboration models, and talent cultivation mechanisms. Alumni shared academic experiences and offered suggestions for the discipline’s growth.

Concurrently, from August 3 to 6, Tsinghua’s exhibition booth remained open at the conference center. Associate Department Chair Ke Deng showcased the Department’s disciplinary development, faculty expertise, research platforms, and student achievements through displays and brochures. Numerous Chinese and international scholars inquired about Tsinghua’s latest advancements and talent recruitment policies. Several young overseas scholars expressed interest in collaborative research or joining Tsinghua’s academic teams.

Additionally, during the conference, Huaili Zhao (supervised by Assoc. Prof. Ke Deng) received the "2025 Hannan Graduate Student Travel Award" from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). Students including Zichu Fu (supervised by Assoc. Prof. Lin Hou) participated in poster presentations.
