Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Duties & Responsibilities: We are seeking one motivated and creative applicant with quantitative research background in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, biostatistics or computer science to join an active and collegial research team at Cleveland Clinic.

Our team has access to “big data” from multiple platforms, including various omics data (WGS, mitochondrial sequencing, metabolomics, epigenetics, etc.), electronic health records and well-annotated clinical phenotypes. The candidate’s responsibilities involve developing novel statistical methods, machine learning algorithms and computational tools to identify disease biomarkers and networks, build predictive models and discover new therapeutic interventions. The postdoc will have great opportunities to collaborate with physicians and scientists at the Cleveland Clinic.  Drs Serpil Erzurum and Bo Hu will mentor the postdoc and provide necessary support to help in the transition to an independent researcher.

Position Qualifications: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in one of the following areas: Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other discipline with strong quantitative background. Knowledge in biology or genetics is desired but not required. The candidate should be familiar with program languages R, Perl or Python. Experience with C/C++ is a strong plus.

       本发明提供一种基于统计词典模型的未登录词发现和分词方法,应用于计算装置中,该方法包括:接收步骤,接收用户输入的文本;构建步骤一,构建初始词典;构建步骤二,利用EM算法和模型选择技术对初始词典进行筛选以得到最终词典;计算步骤,利用对数似然比统计量来计算最终词典中词汇的统计显著性以得到最终词典中词汇的重要性得分,并根据最终词典中词汇的重要性得分对输入文本中所有识别出来的未登录词由高到低进行排序;分析步骤,根据最终词典,通过计算和分析输入文本的每种分词方式的条件概率来实现对输入文本的分词。

Duration: 1-2 years
Duties and responsibilities: A postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. We are seeking for highly motivated individuals to develop and apply novel statistical methods for evaluating diagnostic tests and biomarkers, identify sources of misdiagnosis and eliminate preventable patient harms from diagnostic errors.  The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers who focus on medical diagnosis, precision medicine and electronic health records, with the primary mentor from biostatistics. The main responsibility of this position is statistical methodology development and its computational implementation. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity for collaborative projects with faculty in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins and in the Armstrong Center for Diagnostic Excellence on projects related to diagnostic accuracy. Our research team has database and visualization experts to help preprocess medical care data and to potentially present the statistical model in an interactive or dynamic fashion. The successful candidate is encouraged to take advantage of these resources。
Qualifications: Candidates should have a strong quantitative background with a doctorate in biostatistics, statistics, or a related discipline. Strong programming skills, ideally in R, are required. Experience in statistical methods for medical diagnosis, survival analysis and electronic health records are preferred.
